Description

EU.ORG is one of the free domain pioneers. The can boast with presence since 1996, but their website looks so '95!

Run by a bunch of European hackers, their free sub domain is intended for everyone who cannot afford their own domain and are somehow affiliated with the EU (not strictly enforced). Various county-code and functional sub-domains are available.

EU.ORG domain registration procedure seems a little challenging at first but is actually really simple and fully automated. First you register an administrative handle (your "account"), and then you attach a domain to your handle through the online form. You can set NS and MX DNS records.

This free domain is definitely a very reliable service, run by our knowledgeable geeky friends from the EU.

Description

This is a full free top-level domain name. Use this!

If above doesn't convince you, DotTK can pride themselves on years of stable service.

In the past, they have been redirecting to lots of spam and phishing, but they supposedly manage that issue now.

They support IDN domains when registered as Punycode.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is several unfavorable reviews stating that Dot.TK is a scam. Supposedly, when your site gets upwards of 100 hits per day, they get really unreasonably strict regarding your content or your site availability (i.e. the reliability of your hosting provider), and if they feel like it, they park your site at Sedo for their profit. You can still use their Feedback feature to contact them and hopefully get your domain back, but if you're in for something shady (piracy, adult material, MFA sites, ...), better use some other free domain name from our list.

Their one-click URL shortening service is OK, though.
